Product Description
Discharge grinding, also known as electro-discharge machining (EDM), is a process used to shape and finish die parts.  It involves the use of a spark erosion process to remove material from the workpiece.

In the case of die parts, discharge grinding can be used to create complex shapes and features that would be difficult or impossible to achieve with conventional machining methods.  The process can be used to produce sharp corners, fine details, and intricate geometries with high precision and accuracy.

During the discharge grinding process, an electrically conductive tool (typically made of copper or graphite) is brought into close proximity with the workpiece.  A series of high-frequency electrical discharges are then passed between the tool and the workpiece, creating sparks that erode away material from the workpiece.

The process can be used to grind both conductive and non-conductive materials, including steel, carbide, ceramics, and composites.  However, it is typically best suited for materials that are difficult to machine using traditional methods, such as hardened steels or heat-resistant alloys.
